Coinbase has filed a request for approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, a US regulatory body. The company's filing outlines new types of contracts that it aims to offer to traders within the United States. These proposed contracts are designed to grant market participants leveraged access to individual stocks.
The contracts would allow for trading activity 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. A key characteristic of these offerings is that traders would gain their leveraged exposure to the specific stocks without ever taking actual ownership of those shares.
