Hong Kong crypto exchange CoinEx ceases nine year operations over mounting security and compliance risks.

Hong Kong based crypto exchange CoinEx has announced it will cease all business operations, concluding its activity after nine years. The decision was communicated by the company's founder and Chief Executive Officer, Haipo Yang. He indicated that the primary drivers for this significant step were the growing challenges associated with security and compliance risks in the evolving digital asset landscape. These risks, he stated, had become increasingly difficult to manage.

Mr. Yang further clarified that the cessation was a considered and intentional choice for the company's future. He confirmed that he had turned down proposals for a potential sale of CoinEx to other entities. Instead of pursuing such options, Yang explained that he opted for what he termed a "clean ending" for the exchange, aligning with his assessment of the prevailing risk environment. This strategic decision underscores the company's approach to exiting the market.
