A Guardian produced documentary titled NAZA examines AI powered targeting systems used by the Israel Defense Forces to bombard Gaza after Hamas’s brutal 7 October 2023 attacks. The film features 24 anonymous insiders reflecting on their role in death dealing. Israeli politicians, military leaders, and much of the media are trying to discredit the documentary, branding it a “blood libel” and “fiction” even though almost none of them have seen it.
Its Oscar winning directors, Rachel Szor and Yuval Abraham, face threats of being stripped of their citizenship for treason. NAZA shows how bureaucratic distance and routine can turn extreme violence into ordinary work. More than 73,000 Palestinians, including over 20,000 children, have been killed in the campaign by Israel’s military. Israel’s government, which claims commitment to democratic accountability, is attacking journalists instead of investigating the film’s claims.
