Thirty year old Jenn Lichter achieved a significant victory in the Western States 100 race on June 27. Lichter, despite facing demanding conditions including 18,000 feet of climbing and high daytime temperatures, confidently aimed for a win.
The race remained close during its initial half, until Lichter made a decisive move on the climb to Devil's Thumb. This action created a substantial lead over the athlete in second place. Near the finish, Lichter's fiance, Nick Cornell, informed her she was ahead of the existing course record, a detail she had previously been unaware of.
