Report confirms Bitcoin's 24.6 percent August climb largely due to short liquidations, despite leverage falling.

A recent report from Glassnode and Bybit revealed a notable price surge for Bitcoin during August. The analysis found that the cryptocurrency climbed by 24.6 percent over a concentrated period of five days within the month. This significant upward movement in Bitcoin's value happened even as active market leverage, a measure of borrowed funds used for trading, was simultaneously decreasing.

The key finding from the report highlighted that this robust rally was primarily propelled by the liquidation of numerous short positions. Data indicated that an overwhelming 89 percent of every liquidated dollar during this specific rally originated from these short positions. This strongly suggests that the sharp appreciation in Bitcoin's price was largely a consequence of these forced closures.
