Starbucks baristas are encountering significantly higher health insurance premium costs this year, according to a recent survey from Starbucks Workers United. The survey, which included more than 130 Starbucks employees from both unionized and non unionized stores, revealed that some workers have seen their premiums more than double. These substantial increases in health insurance coverage costs began affecting staff on October 1.
The rising premium costs are leading several workers to consider opting out of health coverage entirely. The findings, shared exclusively with The Guardian, highlight the financial strain placed on Starbucks employees as they struggle with the affordability of their health benefits.
