Accra Reset has released a new report warning that healthcare in Africa and the Global South is experiencing growing strain. This situation follows the United States' withdrawal from significant aid programs. The report specifically highlights cuts made by the Trump administration to initiatives such as the US Agency for International Development, known as USAID.
Beyond the reduction in US aid, the report also identifies other factors contributing to the urgent need for healthcare reform. These include the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic and the worldwide increase in living costs. In response to these challenges, Accra Reset's findings suggest that countries within Africa and the Global South should assume greater responsibility and control over their own health development efforts.
