VanEck, an investment management firm, has expressed its criticism regarding Metaplanet's executive equity exposure. The firm specifically noted that Metaplanet's current executive equity levels are significantly higher than those observed among its comparable companies in the digital asset treasury sector. This statement from VanEck indicates a perceived imbalance in executive shareholdings within Metaplanet.
The criticism arises even after Metaplanet implemented measures to adjust its compensation structure. Metaplanet had reduced its potential share pool by a substantial 41 percent. Despite this considerable cut, VanEck maintains that the executive equity exposure at Metaplanet continues to exceed industry norms for its digital asset peers, suggesting that the reduction was insufficient to align with best practices.
