Zcash is preparing for a significant network enhancement with its upcoming NU7 mainnet upgrade. This planned update aims to substantially reduce the time it takes to process new blocks on the Zcash blockchain. Following the implementation of NU7, block times will be cut to just 25 seconds, a notable decrease from current operations.
Crucially, the NU7 upgrade is also designed to maintain Zcash's established halving schedule, ensuring predictability for its economic model. The testnet for this upgrade is scheduled for activation on October 6, with the full mainnet launch targeted for November.
