Khosla backed Mazama Energy raised $135 million to drill deep for continuous super hot power.

Geothermal startup Mazama, which receives backing from Khosla, has secured $135 million in funding. This capital is designated for advanced drilling operations to access geothermal energy. The company plans to drill three miles underground, specifically targeting super hot rock formations, which are key to their energy extraction process.

The objective of this deep drilling initiative is to harness substantial and consistent electrical power. Each individual well Mazama develops is engineered to generate 15 megawatts of electricity. A critical feature of this system is its continuous operation, providing power 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This unwavering output underscores the company's approach to delivering reliable, round the clock energy from its super hot rock geothermal projects.
