Microsoft announced refreshed compact Surface devices today at Qualcomm's Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii. The U.S. tech giant unveiled the Surface Laptop 13 inch 2nd edition and Surface Pro 12 inch 2nd edition, both featuring the new Snapdragon X2 Plus chip. These updated models will hit the market on October 13, with preorders currently live. The Surface Laptop 13 inch will start at $1,199.99, and the Surface Pro 12 inch will start at $1,149.99.
Both new Surface devices come with 25 percent brighter touchscreen displays and offer new black color options. The Surface Pro 12 inch will also support Microsoft Ink Canvas, an AI powered drawing and annotating tool. Notably, both models start with 16GB of RAM, an increase from the 8GB base configuration of their first generation counterparts this past summer. A redesigned Surface Mouse with built in haptic feedback and a customizable action button will also launch, priced at $79.99.
