Xteink is launching its new S4 e reader, which runs on Android 11, a notable change from its previous Linux based e readers. This shift was observed in RedNote ads and reported by Good E reader. Previously, Xteink devices only supported DRM free EPUB files. The Android system now allows users to download popular apps like Kindle and Kobo, enabling access to more books and the ability to sync reading progress across devices using WiFi, significantly enhancing user functionality.
The Xteink S4 features a 4.3 inch E Ink touchscreen with 220 ppi resolution, 2GB RAM, and 32GB SSD, aligning with the X4 model's specifications. New additions include a front light with adjustable cool and warm settings, and a USB C port, replacing the X4 Pro's pogo pin. This e reader is available for preorder in China for around $50 USD, but is not yet available to users in the United States.
